Is Viscose Stretchy?? It entirely depends on the weave of the fabric… viscose is not a fabric but a yarn derived from natural materials and it is much different from cotton…

Wait what??? Let us first tell you about viscose

is viscose stretchy

Viscose is a semi-synthetic type of rayon fabric made from wood pulp that is used as a silk substitute, as it has a similar drape and smooth feel to the luxury material. The term “viscose” refers specifically to the solution of wood pulp that is turned into the fabric.

Is Viscose Natural or Synthetic

Viscose is actually semi synthetic fiber which is said to be the third most commonly used textile fiber in the world. It also known as rayon. It’s a semi-synthetic fibre that is made from trees – but that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s any better for the environment, or for you.

Is Viscose stretchy

Viscose is not stretchy at all, you cannot stretch it like a nylon or some other yarns. let me explain it for you, viscose as in nylon will simply break beyond this tensile strength. To have a stretchy fabric with viscose you either weave it in a form that it provides some stretchability to it (Compression) or blend it with other yarns/fibers that have the elasticity like spandex/latex/elasthane/etc.

As a textile professional it has been brought to my attention repeatedly by non professionals the lack of understanding between a knit & woven . Viscose is a yarn by product from wood pulp . The fiber can be knitted or woven . Knits are always stretchy to a degree where woven’s can be firm or not with added stretch fibers ( Lycra / spandex ) . So in essence viscose can be both ” stretchy ” as in knitted with spandex or not or be woven for a firm use or additionally be woven with spandex for a ” stretchy ” fabric .
